Steven Hamburg is EDF’s public voice for its commitment to science-based advocacy and is responsible for the scientific integrity of EDF’s positions and programs. His training and research specialty is ecosystem ecology, with a focus on forests.Dr. Hamburg has served as an advisor to both corporations and non-governmental organizations and was awarded an Environmental Merit award by the US Environmental Protection Agency for his climate change-related activities. He has published widely including in Nature and Science and has served as a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Marcia McNutt

Marcia McNutt is a geophysicist who became the 19th Editor-in-Chief of Science in June 2013. From 2009 to 2013, Dr. McNutt was the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey, which responded to a number of major disasters during her tenure, including the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. For her work to help contain that spill, Dr. McNutt was awarded the U.S. Coast Guard’s Meritorious Service Medal. She is a fellow of AGU, the Geological Society of America, AAAS and the International Association of Geodesy. Her honors and awards include membership in the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as honorary doctoral degrees from Colorado College, the University of Minnesota, Monmouth University and the Colorado School of Mines. Dr. McNutt was awarded the Macelwane Medal by AGU in 1988 for research accomplishments by a young scientist and the Maurice Ewing Medal in 2007 for her significant contributions to deep-sea exploration.

In 1988, President Bush appointed Ms. Pfund as a charter member of the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology. In 1999, Ms. Pfund was appointed by President Clinton to serve on the Congressional Web-Based Education Commission. Ms. Pfund is the author, along with Benjamin Healey of the widely cited report on the history of U.S. energy subsidies entitled, “What Would Jefferson Do? The Historical Role of Federal Subsidies in Shaping America’s Energy Future”, co-authored with Michael Lazar,“Red, White & Green: The True Colors of America’s Clean Tech Jobs” and co-authored with Noah Walker, “Ask Saint Onofrio: Finding What Has Been Lost in A Tale of Two Energy Sources”. Ms. Pfund received her BA and MA in anthropology from Stanford University, and her MBA from the Yale School of Management.
Tupper Hull

Tupper Hull is Vice President of Strategic Communications for the Western States Petroleum Association based in Sacramento. Mr. Hull is a veteran communications specialist with a background in natural resource issues management. Prior to joining WSPA, Mr. Hull represented a variety of clients engaged in natural resources management, including the Westlands Water District and San Luis & Delta Mendota Water Authority. He also has extensive experience in international trade and maritime issues, insurance and community redevelopment. For more than a decade, Mr. Hull was a political reporter for two major California daily newspapers, covering state and local government and politics. The Western States Petroleum Association represents the bulk of petroleum enterprises involved in the exploration, production, refining, transportation and marketing of petroleum and petroleum products in the six western states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Founded in 1907, WSPA is dedicated to ensuring that Americans continue to have reliable access to petroleum and petroleum products through policies that are socially, economically and environmentally responsible. For more than thirty years, Jeff Greenfield has been a reporter, analyst, and author focusing on politics, media, and culture. From 2007 to 2011, he served as CBS Senior Political Correspondent. He also hosted the PBS program, “Need To Know.” In the course of his distinguished career, the five-time Emmy winner served as the media commentator for CBS, the senior analyst for CNN, and a political and media analyst for ABC News, appearing primarily on “Nightline” and delivering weekly commentaries for “World News Sunday.” At CNN, Greenfield served as the lead analyst for its coverage of the primaries, conventions, presidential debates and election nights, as well as presidential funerals and Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Greenfield also has reported on the media and culture for the cable network. He has served as a floor reporter or anchor booth analyst for every national convention since 1988. He has twice been named to TV Guide's All-Star team as best political commentator and was cited by the Washington Journalism Review as “the best in the business” for his media analysis. A native of New York City, Greenfield graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin, where he was editor-in-chief of The Daily Cardinal. He is an honors graduate of the Yale Law School, where he was a Note and Comment Editor of the Yale Law Journal. Following law school, Greenfield worked as a speechwriter for Robert F. Kennedy, both in his Senate office and in the 1968 Presidential campaign. He then worked as chief speechwriter for New York Mayor John Lindsay. Greenfield also spent seven years working with political consultant David Garth. A prolific author, Greenfield's work has appeared in many publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Harper's and National Lampoon. He is the author or co-author of 13 books. His first novel, The People's Choice (1995), was a national bestseller and was named by The New York Times Book Review as one of the notable books of the year. Oh, Waiter, One Order of Crow (2001) is an insider's account of the contested 2000 presidential election. His most recent book Then Everything Changed: Stunning Alternate Histories of American Politics was published in 2011.
