Abstract
The UC Santa Barbara campus operates as a city, including the infrastructure, utility distribution networks and building systems required to provide a world-class teaching and research setting. A number of demand-side management initiatives being undertaken on campus ensure that energy demand and utility expenditures are continually reduced as UCSB climbs the national and international rankings. This talk will focus on continuous commissioning of facilities and technology-enabled building analytics, on-site energy generation, and future initiatives including energy storage with a focus on resiliency.
Biography
Jordan Sager is the Campus Energy Manager at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As part of the University’s Facilities Management division, Jordan is part of a team that develops and implements demand and supply side utility management projects with the goals of reducing campus operating expenses and minimizing environmental impact. The campus ’s current projects include mechanical and control systems optimizations, lighting retrofits, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, energy storage, and potable to reclaimed water conversions for landscape and process water uses. Jordan earned his Bachelors degree in economics from the University of Redlands and a Masters degree in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UCSB. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Certified Energy Manager.
