Abstract

Recognized in 1999 as one of Time Magazine's "Heroes of the Planet," William McDonough is known throughout the world for his environmentally responsible architectural design. With his design firm William McDonough + Partners, Mr. McDonough has engaged in what Time calls "practical utopianism," providing economically and environmentally sound solutions for his clients. 

When he's not winning awards for his revolutionary vision and design work, Mr. McDonough writes; his book Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things was published in 2002 by North Point Press. 

Co-Presented by UCSB Arts & Lectures and the Institute for Energy Efficiency as part of the Energy Leadership Lecture series.  This event is also presented as part of the Santa Barbara Summit on Energy Efficiency.
