Biography
Gary Barsley is a Senior Manager responsible for the Technology Project Management team that tests new Emerging Technologies and helps develop new offerings for Customer Incentive programs at Southern California Edison. The group handles assessments & demonstrations at customer facilities and in laboratories (including university & national labs, and SCE’s Irwindale Test Center Laboratories) for new Energy Efficiency & Demand Response technologies, that can better support our customers and our utility grid. The projects are designed to accelerate the development and adoption of these new products & services, in areas such as Building & Transportation Electrification and GHG reduction; ZNE & whole building technologies; energy storage; refrigeration & HVAC; advanced lighting; water-energy; indoor agriculture; etc. Previously Gary was Senior Manager of the SCE Emerging Technologies group for the past 4 years. Before that he was also the Manager of Distributed Generation Programs at SCE for 7 years, including the CSI Solar; the SGIP; and NEM Programs, responsible for the $1.2 Billion portfolio which was the largest customer solar program in the US. Gary was also Director of Projects for 6 years at Shell Solar Industries and SolarWorld Industries, doing large-scale solar PV projects for non-residential customers. Gary volunteers as a judge or advisor for several technology entrepreneurship competitions & organizations, including the Caltech Rocket Fund. Gary also speaks at many business and community conferences on new technology development, sustainability & renewable energy. Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical & Environmental Engineering from University of California at Santa Barbara, and an MBA with a Marketing specialty, from Cal State Fullerton.
