Research
Malgorzata Marek-Sadowska's research interests are in the area of computer-aided design with an emphasis on layout and logic synthesis of VLSI circuits and systems. Her earlier works have dealt with simulation of nonlinear circuits and timing verification. Together with colleagues from the Greenscale Center for Energy-Efficient Computing, Marek-Sadowska works in the area of emerging technologies for energy-proportional computation, where energy efficiency remains high regardless of the load on a server. In this capacity, she develops circuit techniques to reduce energy consumption. Current projects include power verification and optimal designs for power-gating: an efficient technique for lowering power consumption and control leakage currents.

Biography
Prior to joining UC Santa Barbara, Malgorzata Marek-Sadowska was an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Electron Technology at the Technical University of Warsaw (1976-1982). During that time, she also was invited to be a Visiting Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at UC Berkeley (1979-1980). In 1979, she became a Research Engineer at the Electronics Research Laboratory and continued there until 1990, when she joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCSB as a Professor. Marek-Sadowska has been a member of numerous technical committees, including the Technical Committee of the International Conference on Computer Aided Design, the Technical Committee of the Design Automation Conference, and the Technical Committee International Workshop on Placement and Routing. She served as Associate Editor (1989-1993) and Editor-in-Chief (1993-1995) of the IEEE Transactions on Computer-Aided Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems. She has been Associate Editor for the Journal of Circuits, Systems, and Computers since 1990, and serves as a reviewer for numerous technical journals.
