Elizabeth Belding

Elizabeth Belding’s research focuses on mobile networking, specifically multimedia, monitoring, advanced service support, and solutions for developing and under-developed regions. Her work has two primary research emphases. The first of these is deployment, measurement and modeling of wireless networks, including developing new solutions that improve network performance. The second research emphasis is on bridging the digital divide between developed and developing nations through development of wireless network solutions suitable to the constraints of developing and underdeveloped regions of the world, such as rural Africa. Within both of these research areas, Belding works to curb the energy consumption of wireless networks through energy-efficient protocol designs. For developing regions, energy consumption minimization is particularly critical.
