The Institute for Energy Efficiency announced this year’s Peter J. Frenkel Foundation fellows. This award is made possible through the generous support of The Peter J. Frenkel Foundation and is granted to two advanced doctoral candidates in recognition of their outstanding research contributions to the field of energy efficiency.

Introducing the 2016-2017 Peter J. Frenkel Foundation Fellows:

Jiahao Kang 
Electronics & Photonics Solutions Group

Jiahao Kang is a PhD candidate in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department. His dissertation is involving ultra energy-efficient and low-power electronics using 2D layered materials, and is being completed under the supervision of Professor Kaustav Banerjee.

Megan Butala 
Production & Storage Solutions Group

Megan Butala is a PhD candidate in the Materials Department. Her dissertation is about electrochemical energy storage in conversion materials, and is being completed under the supervision of Professor Ram Seshadri.
