The IEE Excellence in Research Graduate Fellowship recognizes cutting-edge research in sustainability and/or energy efficiency. This award provides $22,500 to the fellowship recipient for use during one academic year. The selected fellow MUST use fellowship funds for 1 quarter of full support (tuition/fees, stipend). Beyond that 1 quarter, there will be additional funds remaining that will be paid as a stipend. This award cannot be used for travel or supply expenses.

Nominations are currently CLOSED. Check back next year for our 2025-26 Fellowship!

The goal of the Institute is to name one PhD-level graduate student per academic year (not in P3 status). Additional fellowship benefits include participation in select Institute events, including meetings with select visiting speakers. The fellow may be asked to give a short presentation of their work during the academic year, and it is required to submit a final 2-3 page report within 30 days following the fellowship period.

Awardees are selected by a committee of the IEE faculty leaders, Institute Director, and Executive Director.

Nominations can be submitted by either Institute faculty or students. Self-nominations are welcome.
