Biography
Paul is currently active as a board member, investor and advisor to technology companies and has previously founded companies focused on Internet search and e-commerce. As the Chief Technology Officer of Inktomi and Groupon, he guided their engineering organizations through explosive growth and Initial Public Offerings. Recently Paul has been building Aider, a leading AI coding tool. Paul studied Computer Science in the PhD program of the University of California, Berkeley, holds a Masters Degree from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University and Honorary Doctorates from Saint Mary's University and Dalhousie University. He is an inventor of patents related to search, cloud, e-commerce, 3D, augmented reality and AI. Paul is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada and currently resides in Santa Barbara, California. He supports education and environmental conservation through philanthropic efforts in both locations.
