Summit Speaker: Kelly Smith

Manager, Sustainability Programs
Johnson Controls

Kelly Smith can’t decide between the technical and the interpersonal. He has been delighted to learn that pursuing his interest in energy efficient buildings means he doesn’t have to. He currently manages research activities and sustainability programs at Johnson Controls, where he supports the Building Efficiency business efforts around energy efficiency, demand response, smart buildings, and enterprise energy and sustainability management. Smith is also part of the Institute for Building Efficiency, a new Johnson Controls initiative dedicated to providing a practitioner’s voice in the international dialogue around efficiency and sustainability in the built environment.

Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Smith was a consultant in the electric and gas utility space, helping planners incorporate energy efficiency and demand response into their offerings to customers. He has a Master’s in nuclear science from MIT and a background in high-energy laser physics.
