Building Energy Efficiency: The Path to Optimization

Buildings consume almost 40% of all U.S. energy, and there are real opportunities in real-time building energy monitoring and optimization.  National Net Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) goals mandate that 50% of commercial buildings become energy net zero by 2040.  In order to achieve this, a holistic approach that measures and transforms data into actionable information is necessary. Agilewaves has tackled this problem by creating a Building Performance-Command Center that uses sensors and displays information through a browser or mobile device.  By understanding the energy and water use of a building, problems can be flagged and adjustments can be made.  Along with accurate measurement and integrated actionable information, the path to optimization requires incentives and retrofit financing programs.
