U.S. demand for renewable energy is expected to increase in the coming decades. Due to various market drivers, including financial investment, prices of competing energy sources, and supportive policies, renewables have and will continue to become more competitive. This includes wind and wave energy. Clipper Wind Power is a growing company that manufactures utility scale wind turbines. The company's signature 2.5 MW turbine has been deployed in various projects in the U.S., and its 10 MW ocean-based turbine is in the testing phase. Ecomerit has also developed the Centipod wave energy technology and the Aquantis Project, which harnesses energy from ocean currents.
