The chemical industry has economic and political motivations to minimize the resources consumed by their manufacturing practices -- But, the biggest impact is often reliant on having data *before* breaking ground on a novel project. This information is often proprietary, expensive to determine, or completely unknown as new compounds are dreamt up.. Elise works on a team aiming to fill those data gaps so that chemical companies can more easily make informed decisions. She designs, builds, and tests models that predict the energy required by a wide range of industrial chemical syntheses. She also researches how resource pools are tapped by these chemical manufacturing activities.
