white light LED
Startup EcoSpark believes it can produce a white light LED using zinc oxide. Unlike blue, gallium nitride LEDs, EcoSpark's bulb doesn't require any phosphorus coating to achieve white light, making the device cheaper and more efficient.

Soraa, a LED company founded by leading Institute Faculty, has asked the EPA to address lighting color quality in the next ENERGY STAR standards. Left unaddressed, this lack of high color quality lighting products will lead to a stalling in consumer adoption of energy efficient lighting, says Soraa.
