Philips Lighting has unveiled a new 75-watt equivalent LED bulb while Philips spinoff NXP announced that it has developed GreenChip, a low-powered networking device that can be inserted into bulbs for inexpensive networking.

Switch75 Bulb
A new LED bulb technology by Switch fills the bulb dome with a nontoxic liquid to draw heat away from the LEDs housed inside. The bulbs will sell for one-third to one-half the cost of existing high-end LED bulbs.

Google is teaming up with Lighting Science to develop a bulb that is controllable from an Android phone. The bulbs will communicate through a wireless network anchored by a home router and will allow users to dim, shut off, or program their lights remotely.

Digital Lumens' LED Lighting Systems--which save up to 90 percent of lighting energy--have been installed in Americold facilities in three states.The fixtures also reduce AC and chiller power consumption in cold storage warehouses by 20-40 percent by eliminating heat transfer to chilled food.
