A new study from the Building Codes Assistance Project reveals that the average incremental cost of constructing a new home to meet the current energy efficiency building code is relatively small, and that owners will recoup those costs through energy savings in less than four years.

An Energy-Saving Air Conditioner
Researchers at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory have designed a new air conditioner that uses both evaporative cooling and a liquid desiccant to remove moisture. Engineers believe it could use up to 90% less energy than conventional air conditioners in humid areas.

MIT Taps Local Utility for 'Bold' Energy Efficiency Program

Industry, Advocates Agree on New Home Heating, Cooling Standards
HVAC equipment manufacturers and energy efficiency advocates have agreed on a set of standards that are aimed at dramatically reducing energy use in homes. The standards are to take effect in 2013 and are expected to save the equivalent of the total annual energy needs of Michigan.
