New York is First City to Publish Energy Data for Private Buildings
New York City has publicly posted 2011 energy benchmarking results for over 2,000 large commercial properties. This is the first time any US city has disclosed private-sector building energy data. Results show areas for possible energy improvements.

Newer U.S. homes are 30% larger but consume about as much energy as older homes
Newer American homes consume roughly the same amount of energy as older homes, even though there has been substantial increases in energy efficiency in appliances and HVAC systems.

NY State Buildings Must Increase Energy Efficiency 20%
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an Executive Order directing state agencies to increase energy efficiency in state buildings by 20 percent in seven years.

NYC Begins Hard, Long Slog to Energy Efficiency
New York City's newest skyscraper has received the city's first commercial gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED program. This is part of a larger effort to increase the efficiency of all buildings in the city.
