Researchers at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), have produced a blue-emitting semi-polar laser that is claimed to deliver a similar level of performance to state-of-the-art, conventional equivalents.

Researchers at Cornell University are using dye molecules found in blue jeans to assemble a covalent organic framework (COF) to produce cheaper and more flexible solar cells. The molecules can also absorb almost the entire solar spectrum, potentially resulting in better solar cell efficiency.
