DOE Launches $100 Electric Submeter Challenge
The Department of Energy's Building Technologies Program launches its latest challenge on Wednesday: an initiative to develop a $100 wireless submeter. The hope is that submeters can help building owners and tenants better understand energy use and help solve the split incentive issue.

Newer U.S. homes are 30% larger but consume about as much energy as older homes
Newer American homes consume roughly the same amount of energy as older homes, even though there has been substantial increases in energy efficiency in appliances and HVAC systems.

Carrier Picks Up EnergyHub for Smart Thermostat Partnership

McCormick Distribution Center Achieves Net-Zero Energy Status
The spice and seasoning company now generates more energy than it consumes. McCormick & Company built a solar array, and it reduced its energy consumption by installing many building upgrades. The company added energy efficient lighting and a HVAC system, among others.
