Increasing energy efficiency and thereby reducing energy consumption is a key to solving the global energy crisis; therefore, the innovations developed at the Institute have far reaching impact, ultimately serving the global community. Currently, much effort and expense is allocated to implementing existing technologies, but new technologies are essential to realize the majority of the opportunity for energy savings through energy efficiency. Much more research is needed on such technologies, and this research constitutes the core focus of the Institute for Energy Efficiency at UC Santa Barbara.

Supporting the Institute for Energy Efficiency

The work of the Institute for Energy is funded by corporations, organizations and individuals who share our commitment to reducing the energy demand of the world’s 6.5 billion people. Together we hope to make a significant impact by increasing energy efficiency and by changing the way people in the world think about, use, and produce energy.
