Prof. Chong joined UC Davis in 1997 as an assistant professor and became a Chancellor's fellow and associate professor in 2000. He joined UCSB as a professor of Department of Computer Science in 2005 and became Director of Computer Engineering in 2007. In 2007, he also became the founding director of the Greenscale Center for Energy-Efficient Computing, part of the UCSB Institute for Energy Efficiency. Dr. Chong is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award and the DARPATech most significant technical achievement award. His research interests span energy-efficient computing, sustainable computing, computer architecture, computer security and reliability, parallel computing, embedded computing, emerging technologies, and quantum computing.
