Undergraduate Research Opportunities
The Center for Energy Efficient Materials (CEEM) internship program allows science and engineering undergraduates at the UC Santa Barbara campus to gain research experience during the academic year.
Emilio Codecido, a senior majoring in Physics at UCSB and a current UCLEADS scholar doing research in Professor John Bowers' group, was awarded an Undergraduate Student Poster Presentation Award at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) National Conference in San Antonio, TX. Emilio was awarded for an outstanding contribution and research presentation in the division of Physics for his poster titled "Enhancing Thermoelectric Efficiency with Gated Silicon Nanowires." Emilio began research in Professor Bowers' group as a CEEM undergraduate research intern in 2011 working under the mentorship of graduate student Ben Curtin and is currently a senior scholar in the UCLEADS program finishing his undergraduate degree this year.
