Energy Leadership Lecture Series
The Institute for Energy Efficiency proudly presents the Energy Leadership Lecture Series, which is open to the public and features prominent leaders in energy efficiency and related fields. Leading thinkers and researchers are invited to UC Santa Barbara to present their findings and views to the campus and broader communities.
Our distinguished visitors have included Darrell Smith, Director of Worldwide Energy and Sustainability at Microsoft; Tom Steyer, NextGen Climate Founder and President; Arun Majumdar, Vice President for Energy at Google; Thomas L. Friedman, New York Times columnist; Daniel Yergin, author of The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money, and Power; Amory Lovins, Director of the Rocky Mountain Institute, and Ed Mazria, the founder of Architecture 2030.

Weekly Seminar Series
During Fall and Winter quarters at UCSB, the Institute for Energy Efficiency hosts a weekly seminar series, which is open to the public. Our seminars bring industry leaders and faculty to UCSB to give technical presentations, followed by Q&A with our faculty and students.
Some of our recent speakers have included Jack Brouwer, Associate Professor of Mechanical, Aerospace & Environmental Engineering at UC Irvine; Timothy Kelly, Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in Photovoltaics at the University of Saskatchewan; Antonio Facchetti, Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University; and Lin Zhong, Associate Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Rice University.
