Sukgeun Choi received his Ph.D. on the epitaxial growth and characterization of narrow bandgap III-V semiconductors and related semimetals in 2006 at the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Chris Palmstrom and then rejoined the group in 2016 as an assistant researcher.  Before coming to UCSB, Sukgeun did growth studies of SiGe nanowires using chemical vapor deposition at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos, NM) as a postdoctoral researcher and studied the optical properties of photovoltaic materials and devices using spectroscopic ellipsometry at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Golden, CO) as a staff scientist.
