Kendra Garner is building a compartmental multimedia model of the fate, transport, and transformations of engineered nanomaterials to determine their mass distributions and concentrations in the environment. Because the release of nanomaterials into the environment is highly variable, the model incorporates both spatial and temporal variations. That makes it possible to estimate initial exposure concentrations experienced by various species so that we can identify the risk associated with the manufacture and use of nanomaterials.
