There is no silver bullet to solve the energy efficiency issue. Four major solutions are replacing lighting with LED lights, installing web-based control of load, storing electricity during off-peak periods, and educating people to appreciate energy efficiency. By remote load control, thermostats can be set to have the air conditioning units in close proximity not cycle together to even out energy demands. Small changes in energy programming like this can yield large energy savings.
