Chandra Krintz is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a member of the Institute for Energy Efficiency’s Computing Solutions Group. In this presentation, Krintz discusses her interests of programming languages, runtimes, and how they interact with the operating system. The talk specifically focuses on the emerging area of cloud computing. Krintz goes on to talk about opportunities and challenges of large-scale networked computing and discusses case studies of companies formed around cloud computing. The talk concludes with Krintz elaborating on her own research and the recent launch of an open-source cloud application by her group.
