Center Overview
The Center for Energy Efficient Materials (CEEM) is a new Energy Frontier Research Center at UC Santa Barbara funded by the Department of Energy. The center addresses the critical energy challenge by focusing on fundamental research in the four key areas of photovoltaics, thermoelectric, solid state-lighting, and energy storage. CEEM seeks to find solutions by utilizing the scientific enterprise at UC Santa Barbara and that of its partners, based on fundamental research and engineering, that will ensure sustainable energy resources for the US over the long term. While the world’s growing energy needs cannot be fully addressed by any one center, the successful outcome of the proposed research at CEEM will provide a critically important part to the full solution.
