Amorette Getty
Postdoctoral Fellow
Amorette Getty began a postdoctoral fellowship with the Institute for Energy Efficiency in September 2009. Getty’s work focuses on improving the energy and resource efficiency of engineering research laboratories, particularly cleanrooms, through modifications to equipment, retrofits of existing infrastructure, and end-user behavioral changes. Getty coordinates closely with UCSB's Laboratory Research and Technical Staff (LabRATS), which conducts sustainability assessments of individual laboratories and administrates a variety of projects related to lab sustainability. Prior to Getty’s appointment at the Institute, she received her bachelor's degree in Physics, and subsequently completed her PhD in Materials, both at UCSB. Getty’s graduate research focused on improving the efficiency of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for solid state lighting and related applications. Getty is also currently a member of two campus Change Agent teams for sustainability, focusing on the Build Environment and Labs, Shops, and Studios. In addition to support from the Institute, her work is partially funded by The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF), a student-supported campus program.
